Ah the pomegranate! These tasty fruits are full of antioxidants and are considered one of the healthiest fruits on the planet. Their juice has anti-inflammatory effects and may possibly fight cancer cells. However, getting into one can be a messy hassle. Leaving you with stained countertops, red fingers and a kitchen that looks like something out of a murder scene.

Here’s an infographic sharing my technique of how to easily peel a pomegranate with less hassle. I find this is the best technique to cut down on the mess. The bowl of water stops you from getting squirted in the face, or staining your hands red. Plus the warm water is a great way to help you relax while you take your time peeling. I found I actually enjoyed serving my kids pomegranate after I discovered this technique. No more neglected and dried out pomegranates for me!

1 - Cut the top and bottom off the fruit

2 - Fill a bowl with warm water. Warm water is much more relaxing to dip your hands into while you’re doing the messy work.

3 - Place the pomegranate in the water

4 - Tear apart the fruit under the water. Take your time and be sure to use your thumbs to roll all the little seeds out of their hiding spots.

5 - The peel will float and the seeds will sink. Magically making your job a lot easier!

6 - Remove the peel with a slotted spoon and throw it in your organics bin, or composter.

7 - Pour the remaining water and seeds through a strainer into the sink. Pick out any little bits of peel that got left behind.

8 - Put the seeds in a bowl and enjoy!
